Having grown up in Nairobi, Kenya, Kennedy came to the United States for his advanced education. His undergraduate degree is in computer science from BYU. While in law school at the University of Oregon, he was a research assistant for Professor Keith Aoki providing research and editorial assistance for a published book and several law journal articles. He also co-authored a chapter in a multi-volume book set and a law review article published in 2007. Kennedy is a member of the Oregon State Bar, the Washington State Bar, the Young Lawyers Section Membership Committee of the Multnomah Bar Association and the National Bar Association.
